This fall 30,000 daffodil bulbs and 10,000
native plant bulbs will be planted with the help of hundreds of
volunteers throughout the City of San
Jose!
Do you have a community group looking
for a one day project in the fall? We invite schools neighborhoods, and
other communities to participate on this year’s planting day, Saturday,
November 7, 2009.
Since this program began fourteen
years ago 360,000 daffodils have been planted. Since 2007, 16,000 native
bulbs have been planted along with the daffodils.
This is a citywide community spirit
project. The results are heartwarming.
How the Program Works:
School groups, neighborhood
associations, youth centers, scout troops, and park beautification and
community organizations are eligible to request bulbs. Daffodil bulbs will be limited to 250
per organization. Native bulbs
will be limited to 100 bulbs per organization..
Bulbs must be planted in public places.
For example school grounds, youth centers, senior centers and parks
throughout the city.
To request flower bulbs call the
Office of Keep San Jose Beautiful (408)723-1574. We will begin accepting
bulb requests on August 24, 2009. Please note that bulbs are available on
a first come, first served basis.
