Earth Day San José

Welcome to Earth Day San José! This is the 30th annual celebration of Earth Day, and the City of San José has partnered with the State, National and International earth Day programs for this year's event. San José's theme for 2000 is "New Energy, New Beginnings".

Our environmental EXPO will give the community an opportunity to explore a wide range of environmental issues and innovative technological solutions which may help to preserve our planet, while enjoying live music, dance, photography, organic foods, and non-alcoholic beverages. San José Beautiful will continue to offer environmental education at the Expo via "hands-on" interactive presentations, as well as, an interactive exposition area that will feature information on toxics and pesticide awareness, tree planting campaigns, legislative initiatives, alternative energy programs, electric cars, and more! The event will bring together environmentalists, educators, corporate representatives, Eco-minded entertainers, and the community for an afternoon of fun and environmental education.

The purpose of this event is to educate the public about environmental issues and technological achievements with the goal of empowering them to make wiser choices as consumers and concerned citizens for the future of our planet. The event is funded through the acquisition of sponsorships and grants where money obtained is used to produce and implement the event, for example advertising, permits and promotions.
